I tried about 30 backside 360's and found myself in this position about everytime.
After getting into Kremling, filling up the tank, gas and food our first stop was the Kremmling skatepark. We, as usaul had some work ahead of us till we could skate.
No gas no problem alaways a opurtunity for "tebowing" and vista pics.
Thats O.K. 20 miles or so more to Kremling back country road no problem for the Element. We would just kick it into neutral and coast going down hillls.
This is the lovely town of Rancho Del Rio(cozy if your Hanibal Lector), where the gas sign pointed us to. A booming resort town in summer but a town where the general store and single gas pump fed by a tank not much bigger then you would use as a propane tank for your house is only turned on for a half hour a day at a specific time for the locals.
On Tuesday morning we made a few stops and headed for winter park. We decided to take the scenic route. Its OK that there was not any place to stop for gas in Glenwood springs because the sign said there was gas this way also.
Matt taking a swig.
They used to bottle the sulfer spring water in the early days. I am still trying to muscle through the bottle I filled and it is three weeks later.
Great re-creation of this pic at: theseourwasteddays.blogspot.com
F.O. Accomplished
Waiting in line for continential breakfast for F.O.(First Omlete)
Conditions were not great but it was a small mountain and mostly had it to ourselves. I did not get anty pics at sunlight but check out Bretts blog for a few. After that Bear's victory I fell victim to the hype.
Quick stretch before heading to Sunlight mountain.
After a scenic drive out and listening to Broncos's stressful victory over the Da Bear's on AM radio it was finally time to Take a swim at glenwood Hot Springs.
Thanks for the angle Brett
Long dark walk up and finally arrived. Check something off the bucket list.
When we thought we were not going to get to skate, due to the huge door covering the spot, we were extremely disappointed. We brought the rope so why not tie it up and see. Thats just what Matt decided to do.
On our way to quick session before heading to Glenwood Springs.
Quick stop on the way to drop dogs of at Michelle and Davids.
Loaded and ready.
Brett a little morning meditation before heading out on our next adventure.
Stopped at the Home Depot on the way back for some much needed supplies for the next day.
Imagine our disappointment when we got to the Worlds largest Beetle and it was closed. Kinda reminds you of when Clark and the fam got to Wally world.
No trip to Colorado Springs is complete without a stop to the worlds largest beetle statue.
Brett goin frontside in The Bowl at Colorado Springs Memorial Skatepark.
After seeing all the spots in Denver were going to be snowcovered we headed an hour south to Colorado Springs.
Winona ditch near Denver.
The park was mostly snow covered but we found a few areas to ride . We did not spend much time there because we decided to look for Winona ditch and drive to Colorado springs and skate memorial skate park.
Picked The fellows up at airport headed to Layfette skate park to begin the adventure.
Denver drive by pic while driving.
Flashback to 2009 and what we used to clear the hits.
The trip was going to start with skateboarding and since we had a few snows in a row a couple weeks ago I figured I would better prepare my self this trip better than previous trips.
Vacation started at 4:45 am when I woke up to photograph the Lunar eclipse 12-10-2011. Unfortunately the Total eclipse happened below the horizon from my vantage point. I only got a few decent pics considering I got up early to freeze my ass off. I need more practice photographing. The fourth annual Colorado Adventure series starts at 11 when I pick Brett and Matt up from DIA...
loved the recap as always.
